Associate Superintendent of Instruction and Federal Programs

 

Job Summary

To provide leadership, expertise and supervisory skills which will promote exemplary Instruction and Federal Program services for the district.

 

Reports To: Superintendent

 

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications

  1. Knowledge and Experience in the State-Mandated Assessment Process
  2. Knowledge and Experience in Federal Programs (i.e. Title I, Title II…)
  3. Knowledge and Experience in the New Mexico State Standards and Benchmarks and the Common Core Standards and Benchmarks
  4. Familiarity and experience with current best practices in instruction
  5. Familiarity and Experience with Data Driven Instructional Practices and Professional Learning Communities

 

Essential Functions

  1. Utilize the most up-to-date technology to reduce paperwork and provide the most efficient use of personnel.
  2. Work as a member of the central office administrative team.
  3. Supervise and coordinate procedures appropriate for all Instruction and Federal Programs in the district, to insure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  4. Direct, supervise and evaluate personnel assigned to Instruction and Federal Programs including instructional coaches, ELL coordinator, Indian Ed Coordinator, Testing Coordinator, and educational assistants.
  5. Offer expertise to Instruction and Federal Programs personnel in instructional planning, implementation of teaching and management strategies and in identifying appropriate resources.
  6. Plan and facilitate appropriate in-service training.
  7. Direct the completion of all reports as required by federal, state, and local agencies.
  8. Anticipate and project Instruction and Federal Program personnel needs in conjunction with the Executive Director for Human Resources.
  9. Work with site principals and site testing coordinators on all state mandated assessments and other related assessments given throughout the school year.
  10. Work with all principals, PLC groups and other district personnel to ensure that all benchmarks and standards are aligned and taught at the appropriate grade level.
  11. Coordinate the implementation of curriculum progress/benchmark assessments for the district.
  12. Prepare and submit annual federal/state grants and coordinate budgetary needs with the Director of Finance.
  13. Supervise and coordinate fiscal matters relating to Instruction and Federal Programs following adopted procedures and policies.
  14. Coordinate advisory committees for Federal Programs involving parents, staff, and students, when appropriate.
  15. Coordinate all instructional materials adoptions for the district.
  16. Work with the Director of Exceptional Programs to oversee the district Student Multi Layered Systems of Support.
  17. Act as District Hearing Officer on an as needed basis.
  18. Act as a resource for principals and administrators.
  19. Work with Superintendent to supervise and evaluate site leadership.
  20. Be an active member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet.
  21. Perform such other duties as the superintendent may determine.
  22. Oversee the inception, initial contact, and follow-through across the school year of the teacher mentorship program.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Principals, site leadership, office staff, and other related staff in the district assigned to the Instruction and Federal Programs Office. When Superintendent is absent assume responsibility for operations.

Work environment

  • Subject to district, community, regional and state business travel to attend meetings.
  • Conduct work during day, and evening hours.
  • Subject to attending evening school board meetings and various other evening meetings.

 

Term of Employment

  • Twelve-month employee, eight hours per day. Subject to 24-hour call.
  • Salary per district schedule
  • Evaluation annually.

 

Physical Rating Level

This position will require the employee to function at a “Medium” physical capacity as defined by Worker’s Compensation Statutes. “Medium” physical capacity indicates the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally or up to 25 pounds frequently.
